Media TEAM

When it comes to our media, we are ONLY going to have the BEST at the SUPERCHAMPS so of course we have got Sarah & Simon! This SUPERTEAM are taking control of all our media in the build up, the FULL weekend of commentary and everything else needed for SUPERMEDIA!  They need NO introduction but lets introduce the premier GB & NI SUP commentary team anyway...
Simon Hutchinson is the host of the SUPfm Podcast, the world’s leading podcast created in 2015, which features inspirational stories and shares knowledge from adventurers, athletes and water-people worldwide.
Simon is an experienced paddleboarder and instructor, living and working on the South Coast of the UK. He enjoys SUP surfing, touring and paddles 12 months of the year.
Simon created the first specialist SUP clothing brand Hutch SUP Wear in 2014 and produced the first online SUP Safety Course in 2021 and has written for various publications including SUPMag UK.
Alongside the podcast, he has contributed to national working groups on safety and has co-hosted live streamed events including the 12 hour ‘SUP Twelve’ events from Torquay.

Stand Up Paddleboarding has been a big part of Sarah 'SUPJunkie' Thornely's life since 2012. After racing for five years, she became the Ladies 14’ joint overall UK National Series champion in 2017 and then promptly retired.
She was then asked to join the Events Team for the newly formed National Series, growing the Media Team for them over the next few years and this then led to the creation of SUPjunkie.
SUPjunkie was launched in 2018 at the APP World Tour event in London, where she covered two major international events and grabbed 32 interviews all over one weekend including the likes of Kai Lenny, Michael Booth and Casper Steinfath. It is still one of her absolute media highlights.

Since then, it has been a whirlwind of trips around the world, including China, Poland and France whilst here in the UK and over the last 7 years she has produced the Live Feed commentary and photographs for the big events in the UK. For the last two years she has been involved in the Live Feed marathon covering the SUP Twelve events in Torbay jointly with Simon from SUPfm.

Since 2018, Sarah has been writing for Stand Up Paddle Mag UK and its sister publication The Paddler, featuring SUP racing and adventure paddling, including interviews with great paddlers from all over the world. SUPjunkie Reporting in SUPM is a firm favourite with readers and includes highlights of what's happening in the SUP world.

None of this has ever felt like work for Sarah as she has done all this as a volunteer, such is her love for the sport!  As the UK SUP encyclopaedia, Sarah has made friends with EVERYONE in the sport, she truly has become the face of SUP on this island nation.
